PADI OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR COURSE – 6 days
This is the rest of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), the final development step in your quest to become a PADI Instructor! Here, we focus on further developing your abilities beyond just a Scuba Instructor but as a professional diving educator.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course is designed for PADI Assistant Instructors who would like complete their PADI Instructor Development Course prior to attending their PADI Instructor Examinations (IE) and become certified as a PADI Instructor. This course also welcomes Scuba Instructors from another training organizations to have a look at the entire PADI System of Diver Education.

After you have successfully completed your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program, you will receive an authorization to attend your PADI Instructor Examinations (IE).


Structure – PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) in Perhentian Island, Malaysia

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is divided into 4 components;
– Pre-assessment
– Knowledge Development
– Confined Water training
– Open Water training

Pre-assessment:
Before you start your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program, we will help you fine-tune your diving knowledge, general diving skills and rescue skills. During the preassesment section of your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course, you will.

Complete several dive theory exams under our guidance (Physics, Physiology, Equipment, RDP and Skills & Environment).

Attend dive theory review class – if needed
Skills demonstration workshops – General skills and rescue skills
Perform a facedown, nonstop swim for 800 metres/yards using a mask, snorkel and fins.
Attend a “how to use your PADI Instructor Manual” workshop

Knowledge Development:
On top of what you have done during your PADI Assistant Instructor course, you will need to participate in 7 more PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) curriculum presentations and workshops by PADI IDC Staff Instructor and/or PADI Course Director.
Score 75 percent on all sections of the Dive Theory Exam and have any missed questions reviewed until mastery is achieved.
Present one knowledge development teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.5 on at least one.

Confined Water training:
Perform all 20 dive skills in the Skill Evaluation, scoring a minimum of 68 total points, with no individual score below 3.
Participate in “Teaching in confined water” workshop.
Present two confined water teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on at least one.

Open Water training:
Participate in “Conducting skills in open water” workshop.
Present one integrated (two skills) open water teaching presentation, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on each skill.
Participate in the Adventures in Diving workshop.
Participate in the Rescue Diver workshop.

Our PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor programs in Perhentian Island, Malaysia is performance based developmental training – in the event that you do not meet the minimum required scores, we will keep coaching and guiding you until you can meet or even exceed the course requirements. PADI Course Director Azman’s goal is to make sure you have all the confidence to succeed in your PADI Instructor Examinations and carry your responsibility as a fully certified PADI Scuba Instructor conducting PADI courses in the real world!


Prerequisites – PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) in Perhentian Island, Malaysia

To start your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program, you must be:
Dive Leader certification — PADI Assistant Instructor or current instructor member in good standing with a recognized recreational diver training organization* for at least 6 months.
18 years old
Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months.
Certified diver for six months.
EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.
If not a PADI Divemaster, complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.
Submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level, as necessary.
