PADI IDC classroom time –Unlike many other PADI IDC training center which are only open during office hours, our classrooms are open until late during your PADI IDC! In fact, the last person to leave locks the door! Most of the time, candidates prefer to complete their assignment and coursework together in the classroom and make use of all the materials available inside.

You can also use this opportunity to watch all training videos and read some useful PADI manuals in your free time to familiarize yourself with all of it. Your PADI Course Director Azman and all of your PADI IDC Staff members are always available for assistance after classroom time to guide you and help with whatever difficulties you might have.

Prerequisites

Below are prerequisites to do your PADI IDC:

1. Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization. An individual with leadership level certification with another diver training organization can be:

• An instructor member in good standing with one of the following organizations: BSAC (Club Instructor or higher), CMAS (two or three star), FAUI, IDEA, Los Angeles County, MDEA, NAUI, PDIC, SSI, SAA (Instructor Grade 2 or higher) or YMCA (others may qualify –contact PADI for verification).

• Or, a diver with proof of certification in diver supervision and management including proof of rescue diving certification (contact us for more information)

2. Be at least 18 years old.

3. Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past 12 months. A licensed physician must sign the form and state that the candidate is fit for diving. The physician signing the form may not be the applicant.

4. Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water scuba dives (as documented in the individual’s log book) and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation diving.

5. Submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.

6. Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization (PADI Members who have these records on file at PADI do not need to resubmit.)

If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.

PADI IE

PADI Instructor Examinations:

After successfully completing your IDC with us, you are ready to attend a PADI Instructor Examination (IE)! PADI IE is designed to evaluate your readiness, knowledge and skills to earn your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating before you start conducting PADI courses in the real world.

During this two and a half day program PADI Instructor Examiners from PADI International offices will screen and evaluate your diving skills, teaching presentations for knowledge development, confined water and open water. You will also demonstrate that you have a good understanding in dive theory, the PADI System/Standards and Procedure. Your attitude and professionalism will also be evaluated.

According to our past IDC candidates, IE is the easiest part in the whole instructor-training process. You just have to do what you have learned during your IDC one more time!

PADI IE is divided into 4 modules;

Module 1 - Written Exams

• Dive theory Exams –Physics, Physiology, RDP, Equipment, Skills & Environment (12 questions each area).
• PADI System, Standards and Procedure - open book, you can use your PADI Instructor manual and Instructor Candidate Workbook (50 questions)

Module 2 - Knowledge Development presentation

• Prepare and present one prescriptive teaching presentation in a classroom environment from an assigned question.

Module 3 - Confined water

• Teach one skill assigned by the Examiner
• Demonstrate 5 skills from Open Water Diver course chosen by the Examiner

Module 4 - Open water

• Conduct two skills (usually one skill from Open Water Diver course and one skill either from Adventure in Diving or Rescue Diver course).
• Demonstrate rescue skill exercise number 7 (Unresponsive diver at the surface) using either mouth to mouth or mouth to pocket mask.

Your general diving skills, attitude and professionalism as a dive professional will also be observed during the entire IE program.
