By Air : From Kuala Lumpur International Airport you can get a flight to Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Available domestic flights are provided by Malaysia Airline System and AirAsia's low cost flight. You can book the ticket online. If you are really on budget, better get the AirAsia flight. From Kota Bharu airport, you get a taxi direct to Kuala Besut (NOT Tok Bali jetty). Kuala Besut is a small town and it is the nearest gateway to Perhentian Island from the mainland. A boat services are available from selective travel agent. A further more 21 KM, then you'll arrive at the island.
By Train: From Kuala Lumpur International Aiport, you can get a Kuala Lumpur City Express to KL Sentral. At KL Sentral you can get a train from Kuala Lumpur Station to Tanah Merah Station in Kelantan. You can check out the train schedule at KTM's website. From Tanah Merah you need to take a bus or taxi towards Kuala Besut. In Kuala Besut you can make a hotel reservation and buy a boat ticket from the local travel operators.
By bus: Get an express bus from Hentian Putra Terminal Kuala Lumpur, Butterworth Express Terminal Penang and Tanah Rata Bus Station Cameron Highlands. A few different express bus companies travel directly to Kuala Besut jetty.
Driving Here Driving from Kuala Lumpur; You can easily drive up to Kuala Besut through the Gua Musang National Highway. The nice scenic drive will take about 7 to 8 hours to get to Kuala Besut.
First, you need to get to Batu Cave, from there, look for the sign towards Kuantan. Follow the highway until you pass 2 tolls. After the second toll (about 9 km) look for Bentong exit. From Bentong – Raub – Kuala Lipis – Gua Musang – Kuala Krai – Machang – Jerteh – Kuala Besut. There are plenty of daily pay parking places in Kuala Besut. Usually cost RM5.00 per day during high-season.

FROM THAILAND By Air: You can fly from Bangkok/Phuket/Koh Samui/Chiang Mai to Hat Yai and then take a mini bus or the express train to Sungai Kolok (Malaysia - Thailand border). Cross the border and take another taxi directly to Kuala Besut jetty.
You can also book to fly on Air Asia from Bangkok/Phuket/Chiang Mai to Kuala Lumpur and then to Kota Bharu (see from Kuala Lumpur).
BY TRAIN: Overnight express train leaves everynight from Bangkok directly to Sungai Kolok (Malaysia - Thailand border). The Second-Class sleepers are very comfortable for this 18 hours journey. You can also catch the same express train from Suratthani or Hat Yai. Once you get to Sungai Kolok - cross the border and take another taxi directly to Kuala Besut jetty.
BY BUS: You can also catch express busses from Bangkok/Phuket/Krabi/Suratthani to Penang. From Penang there are many local express busses that goes to Kota Bharu or directly to Kuala Besut. If you take the bus to Kota Bharu, and decide to stay there for a couple of days - you can easily ask the guest house or hotel you are staying to organize the taxi to Kuala Besut jetty.

BY BUS: Transnasional VIP busses leaves from Lavender Street everynight at 2030hrs. These busses travel directly to Jerteh - a small town 10 minutes taxi ride from Kuala Besut jetty.
